Pearson has appointed Harish Manwani as an independent non-executive director on its board, effective from October 1. Manwani is the Chief Operating Officer at Unliver, a role he assumed in 2011, and serves on the company's executive board. He is a Non-Executive Chairman of Hindustan Unilever Ltd in India, and serves on the board of Whirlpool Corporation in the US. He is also a director of the Indian School of Business, the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore, and The Human Capital Leadership Institute in Singapore.
Sarkar is Ford’s new V-P Marketing
Ford India has appointed Raj Sarkar, as the Vice-President of Marketing. He has over 17 years of experience in product and consumer marketing for Ford models in North America. He will now have key responsibility for overall brand building at Ford India.
Shalimar Paints appoints new MD
Shalimar Paints has appointed Sameer Nagpal as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 25, after it received shareholders’ approval. The approval came in at the company’s annual general meeting held on August 6, the company said. “The consolidated nature of the industry offers potential to a company like Shalimar which has a 111-year-old history. We are now looking at growing three to four times the market rate as the company has huge latent equity and a strong portfolio of brands whose potential is waiting to be tapped,” Nagpal said.
Dr Reddy’s has new HR chief
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has announced the appointment of Sripada Chandrasekhar as the President and Global Head of Human Resources. He will also be a member of Dr Reddy’s Management Council. Prior to joining Dr Reddy’s, he worked with IBM in India as Vice-President and Head of Human Resources for the India/South Asia region.
Rao appointed seed association head
National Seed Association of India, which represents the private & public sector seeds companies, has appointed M. Prabhakar Rao as its new president.
He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Hyderabad-based Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. He will be heading NSAI’s governing council till 2015.
