Norwegian telecomm player, Telenor Group’s subsidiary, Uninor is planning to increase its network coverage by 30 per cent in Gujarat circle by deploying over 1,000 additional network sites within the next 5 months. This will be the company’s largest ever network expansion in the circle, company officials informed.

This will add an additional population of over 50 lakh under company’s coverage.

“In a market of 10 operators in Gujarat, we are proud to be the only one to offer affordable services. Over 50 lakh Uninor customers are using our affordable service,” said Jinesh Hegde, Circle Business Head, Gujarat.

The network expansion announced by Uninor will now take the company’s coverage to additional towns and villages across the circle as well as strengthen the network in existing towns and villages. This will also result in the expansion of the company’s retail network with over 200 new points of sale and create significant additional employment.

At the end of this phase of expansion, Uninor will have over 4100 network sites, with 65,000 point of sales outlets, 400 express stores and about 250 distributors in the Gujarat circle. Together this distribution network will cater to over 65 lakh existing and potential subscribers in the circle.
