Sugar prices jumped by ₹20-30 a quintal at mill level on talk of government hiking import duty from 50 per cent to 100 per cent but at Vashi price increase remained limited to ₹10-20 on routine demand. Naka rates were unchanged. Arrivals to the Vashi were at 59-60 truck loads and local dispatches were at 58-60 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,026-3,126 and M-grade ₹3,132-3,312. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,000-3,090 and M-grade ₹3,050-3,175.
