Sugar market witnessed a jump in prices on Thursday extending its bullish trend on higher demand at mill and market level. At the Vashi wholesale market, prices were up ₹15-20 a quintal, while naka rates were up ₹40-50. Mill tender rates gained ₹20-30. Arrivals increased to 61-62 truck loads and local dispatches were at 60-62 loads. On Wednesday evening, 20-22 mills offered tenders and sold about 78,000-80,000 bags at ₹2,900-3,010 for S-grade and ₹3,030-3,150 for M-grade. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,052-3,140 and M-grade ₹3,160-3,340. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,040-3,150 and M-grade ₹3,100-3,245.
