Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been given a target of recruiting two lakh people for central government posts by 2015, Union Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy said today.
From handling 10.3 lakh applications for 6,304 posts in 2008-09, SSC, responsible for recruitment of Group C (non-technical) & Group B (non-gazetted — both technical & non-technical) posts, received 1.6 crore applications and selected 85,000 candidates in 2012-13, he said.
Narayanasamy was addressing the valedictory session of the Commission’s two-day Regional Directors’ Conference.
He said SSC has won the confidence of all the departments and its reach has widened after introduction of online application system.
A consultant will be appointed to study how to prevent the cyber crime and upgrade technology, he said.
He asked the Commission to give importance to regional languages while advertising for jobs.
