Among all sectors, energy was the only one that did not see a spending cut in the Plan outlay at the revised estimates level in 2013-14, against the original budget target for the year.
The Plan outlay for the energy sector was ₹1,78,776 crore at revised estimates level, which was a 13 per cent increase from the budgeted amount of ₹1,58,287 crore.
All other sectors saw Plan outlay cuts at the revised estimates level.
Those that saw spending cuts include agriculture and allied activities, rural development, irrigation and flood control, industry and minerals, transport, communications, science technology and environment, general economic services, social services and even general services.
Even the total Plan saw a reduction. The Central Plan outlay including the extra budgetary resources, saw a spending cut at the macro level with the total Central Plan revised downwards to ₹6,14,134 crore from the budgeted target of ₹6,80,123 crore.
