India will take up the issue of international labour mobility, particularly of professional workers, besides raising the issue of climate change at the G20 forum, said NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya on Monday.
“We are also pushing the issue of climate change. I would also like to emphasise on the international mobility particularly of professional workers,” he said on the sidelines of an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The G-20 Summit will be held on September 4 and 5 in China. Panagariya is India’s sherpa to the G-20. Panagariya also said the merger of the Rail Budget with the Union Budget is a “real possibility”. The move comes after Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley calling for the merger of the Railway Budget with the Union Budget.
Corruption meanceAddressing the conference, Panagariya said corruption was still a problem for the common man.
“The Prime Minister has made checking corruption a very high priority. We are making progress. However, corruption remains visible for the common man, we need to make it work at lower levels, including States,” he said.
