An informal meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council that was called by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to discuss the issue of administrative control of businesses remained inconclusive.
Sources said the meeting, which was attended only by State Finance Ministers and Jaitley could not reach a consensus on the tax jurisdiction to be shared between the Centre and States under GST.
Officials of the Unions Finance Ministry and State tax departments will now meet on November 21 to thrash out the issue. The GST Council will then meet again on November 25 to discuss the issue of control as well as the draft GST laws.
