Decks have been cleared for passage of the Insurance Bill in Rajya Sabha, too, as Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien has given a ruling that no rule prohibits the government to introduce a Bill in Lok Sabha, when a similar one is pending in Rajya Sabha. The government has also reached out to the principal Opposition, the Congress, which is willing to support the Bill based on the report of the select committee. Sources in both the government and the Opposition said the Bill will be taken up at the earliest. “The NDA and the Congress will support the Bill. All the other parties are likely to oppose the Bill, but the passage is certain,” an MP said.
