The Standing Committee on Energy in its report for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recommended that the Ministry should ask the Finance Ministry for more funds so that the green energy programmes do not face a setback. It said that this will also ensure that the targets set for 2015-16 are fully achieved.
“Scrutiny of the information supplied by the MNRE reveals that the Ministry’s programmes such as wind and solar power have suffered a setback due to shortage of funds thereby creating pending liabilities of future,” the Second Report on Demands for Grants of the Ministry of New and Renewal Energy for 2014-15.
