The Ministry of Power on Tuesday launched an online portal for notifying electricity outages to rural consumers. The mobile app will collate information from feeder level power distribution units and notify registered consumers through SMS messages and through 'push notifications'.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Piyush Goyal said, "This will help in better monitoring of rural electrification."
According to a power ministry presentation on the program 3000 rural feeders in Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have been linked to the portal.
Work has been initiated to link 13,705 feeders in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Uttarakhand.
