290 MW of solar photo voltaic capacity has been commissioned as of April 15 out of the 340 MW of projects awarded under the second batch of the first phase of the National Solar Mission.
In total, i.e., between both the batches of the first phase of the National Solar Mission, 420 MW of solar PV capacity has been commissioned so far. This excludes however 160.8 MW commissioned under various other schemes that were in vogue before the Mission was launched.
Only three projects are yet to be commissioned. They are of: Enfield Infra 10 MW in Rajasthan, Essel MP Energy 20 MW in Madhya Pradesh and Sai Sudhir Energy 20 MW in Andhra Pradesh, according to information given by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The Phase I of the Mission sought to create a total capacity of 1,000 MW, but this was split into photo voltaic and solar thermal technologies. The solar thermal projects, of a total capacity of 500 MW, are in various stages of execution. Under the project award conditions, they have to be commissioned by May this year.
As at the end of February, the total grid-connected solar power capacity in India stood at 1,446 MW.
