In this connection, mobile manufacturing presents a very encouraging area," Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
He said in 2014-15, 5.4 crore mobile units were manufactured in the country, which has more than doubled to 11 crore units in 2015-16.

On the installation of postal ATMs, he said 576 ATMs have been installed and there would be 1,000 ATMs across India and 20,000 micro ATMs (to be used by postmen) by the month-end.
On the use of the Aadhaar platform for delivery of services, Prasad said “this will prevent leakages by identifying beneficiaries correctly and would encourage good governance”.
