They selected only the fine and medium variety turmeric,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. He said 3,400 bags arrived for sale. The finger variety was up by ₹200-300 a quintal and the root variety by ₹400.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,860-8,437 a quintal and the root variety at ₹5,679-7,900. Of the arrived 2016 bags, only 733 were sold.
