The arrival and sales of turmeric at Erode markets increased. RKV Ravishankar, a trader, said the price in the futures also was in an upward trend, but the local price did not increase much and the buyers were expecting fresh upcountry order within a few days. Of the arrival of 4,200 bags, 75 per cent stocks were sold. The price of the finger variety was up ₹200 a quintal in other markets and ₹250 in the Regulated Market Committee. Similarly, the root variety increased by ₹300 in all the markets. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,196-9,111 a quintal; the root variety ₹5,406-8,111. Of the arrival of 1,786 bags, 816 were sold.
