Cotton price was unchanged on Friday on the back of restricted demand and expectation of some fresh buying at the lower level.
Traders said that cotton price during this week constantly decreased due to arrival of new crop and weak demand from domestic yarn mills.
Gujarat Sankar-6 was best quality cotton was traded at ₹36,000-500 for a candy of 356 kg and average grade cotton stood at ₹35,000-800. About 4,000 bales (of 170 kg) of cotton arrived in Gujarat and around 10,000-11,000 bales arrived in India.
Arrival of new kapas or raw cotton in Gujarat has started and will increase from next month. New kapas was traded at ₹550-850 for a maund of 20 kg in Rajkot. Old stock went for ₹850-950 and gin delivery kapas stood at ₹930-975.
