Spot turmeric prices at Erode markets declined by ₹200 a quintal on higher arrivals.
“ Arrival of turmeric increased to 9,000 bags and so the traders quoted decreased price and purchased limited stocks. The traders have received very limited upcountry demand, so only 4,800 bags were sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The price of the finger variety decreased by ₹200 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric fetched ₹6,699-10,329 a quintal and the root variety ₹6,219-9,519. Of the arrival of 3,214 bags, 1,520 were sold.
