Spot pepper prices ruled steady, while futures on the IPSTA declined. The pipelines upcountry are empty now and arrival of new pepper will start only by second week of January. On the spot, 14 tonnes of pepper arrived from the plains, southern districts and the High Ranges at prices ranging from ₹675 and ₹690 a kg. Spot prices remained steady at ₹66,500 (ungarbled) and ₹69,500 (ungarbled) a quintal. On the IPSTA, January, February and March contracts fell by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹60,964, ₹57,337 and ₹57,237 respectively. Export prices were at $11,500 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,700 for the US.
