Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market were mixed on Tuesday on routine activities. Traders sold S-grade ₹10 higher, while M-grade was delivered ₹10 lower. Naka prices were up by ₹10-20 for S-grade and ruled steady for M-grade. Sources said mill tender rates were unchanged as producers continued selling the commodity by keeping the sale tender open. Retail demand is expected to rise at the start of the new month and may support prices. However, ample stocks with stockists will keep prices on leash. The Vashi market currently carries about 110-115 truckloads of stocks. Arrivals at Vashi market were steady at 61-62 truckloads and local dispatches around the same level. On Monday evening, about 23-24 mills offered tenders and sold 64,000-65,000 bags at ₹2,550-2,660 (₹2,550-2,660) for S-grade and ₹2,660-2,780 (₹2,660-2,780) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates were: S-grade ₹2,696-2,815 (₹2,682-2,815) and M-grade was ₹2,800-2,952 (₹2,800-2,962).
Naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹2,640-2,720 (₹2,630-2,700) and M-grade ₹2,740-2,870 (₹2,740-2,870).
