Pepper markets on Thursday declined on quality concerns and slack demand.
Buyers were staying away from the market which has been on a daily declining mode, of late, market sources told Business Line .
No sellers were forthcoming from the high ranges because of the heavy rains and the lower rates, they said.
Some 15 tonnes of reprocessed material, a mixture of exchange released pepper and fresh pepper, were traded today at ₹700 a kg.
Spot prices declined further by ₹100 a quintal to close at ₹69,000 (ungarbled) and ₹72,000 (garbled) a quintal.
July, August and September contracts on the IPSTA dropped by ₹1,000 a quintal each to close at ₹71,000, ₹70,000 and ₹68,000 a quintal respectively.
Export prices were at $10,825 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,075 for the US.
