Pepper prices on Monday ruled steady on limited activities. No pepper consignment arrived today and hence there was no offtake. Last week, 25 tonnes of new pepper arrived and that were traded while some 20 tonnes of it is expected during the current week, market sources told BusinessLine .
Many of the buyers expect prices to fall and hence are on a wait-and-watch mode, they said. All the active contracts on the IPSTA platform remained unchanged while the December contract matured today. Spot prices also stayed steady at ₹67,000 (ungarbled) and ₹70,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices have declined to $11,575 a tonne for Europe and $11,825 for the US.
