Pepper prices were steady on Wednesday on limited activities. As the Maharashtra and Haryana markets were closed on account of elections, there was no demand forthcoming. However, the end users, whose pipelines are empty, were buying hand to mouth, market sources told Business Line. On the terminal market, nine tonnes of pepper were traded. Four tonnes of High Range pepper went for ₹695-700 a kg while five tonnes were traded at ₹675-680 and ₹685. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹67,800 (ungarbled) and ₹70,800 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at $12,000 a tonne cf Europe and $12,250 for the US.
