Turmeric arrivals to Erode markets decreased on Monday as growers brought only 1,500 bags of medium variety turmeric. “Since the quality was average, the buyers purchased for a decreased price,”said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. He said 75-80 per cent of the arrivals were sold. Regarding the price, root variety in the Regulated Marketing Committee lost ₹950 a quintal to be sold at ₹6,989 while, finger variety lost ₹500 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric went for ₹5,814-8,455; the root variety for ₹5,506-7,709. Of the arrival of 817 bags,60 per cent were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,714-7,765 and the root variety for ₹6,369-6,989. Of the 267 bags offered, 182 were sold.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,989-8,559; the root variety at ₹6,391-7,759. Of the 324 bags on sale, 265 were traded. Our Correspondent
