Spot prices of turmeric as well as arrivals increased at Erode markets on quality arrivals. Of the 7,000 bags that arrived, 70 per cent were sold. Only local hybrid turmeric arrived for sale and all the 550 bags of the local finger and root hybrid turmeric were sold. The finger turmeric was up ₹100-200 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹7,424-9,484 a quintal; the root variety at ₹7,236-8,499. Of the arrival of 1,928 bags, 1,238 were sold.
