Silver prices moved down by 0.25 per cent to Rs 37,038 per kg at the futures trade today as participants locked-in gains at the prevailing levels even as the metal edged higher overseas.

On the MCX, silver for delivery in May moved down by Rs 92 or 0.25 per cent to Rs 37,038 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange. It clocked a business turnover of seven lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month July declined by Rs 81 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 37,770 per kg in 410 lots.

Market analysts said profit-booking by speculators at the prevailing levels mainly led to the fall in silver prices at the futures trade, but the metal’s gains overseas capped the losses.

Meanwhile, silver traded 0.1 per cent higher at $16.42 an ounce in Singapore today.
