Silver prices rose Rs 421 to Rs 38,974 per kg at the futures trade as traders raised their bets owing to positive global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 421 or 1.09 per cent at Rs 38,974 per kg in a business turnover of 2,017 lots. Silver for delivery in May too rose Rs 405 or 1.04 per cent to Rs 39,505 per kg in 70 lots.

In the international market, silver was trading higher by 0.96 per cent at $16.87 an ounce in Singapore today.

Market analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to widening of bets by participants owing to positive trend in global markets.
