Nearly 200 stocks hit their one-year high level on the BSE today supported by a rally in the broader market where the Sensex rose by about 134 points, registering gains for the sixth session.

A total of 192 firms surged to their 52-week high mark, including BPCL, DLF, GAIL, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Hero MotoCorp, IOC, M&M, NHPC, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India and Yes Bank.

The 30-share Sensex ended higher by 133.85 points, or 0.49 per cent, at 27,278.76 — its highest closing since October 26 last year.

It had added 747.20 points in the past five sessions.

“Positive market sentiment was given a fillip after monsoons picked up in India over the weekend,” said Shreyash Devalkar, Fund Manager — Equities, BNP Paribas Mutual Fund.

As many as 20 stocks gained from the 30-share basket led by Adani Ports, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, ICICI Bank and Tata Motors.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, realty index jumped the most, up 2.20 per cent, followed by PSU 1.79 per cent, metal 1.67 per cent and oil & gas 1.56 per cent.

At BSE, 1,699 stocks advanced, while 1,038 declined and 148 remained unchanged.
