West Bengal will support the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill subject to the rider that its revenues should not be impacted, Amit Mitra, State Finance, Commerce and Industry and IT Minister said here on Saturday.
"By introducing the GST, if the state revenue falls, it should be compensated and a Constitutional amendment is needed to make us (state government ) feel secure", he said during the annual session of the MCC Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
According to the minister, the Trinamool Congress had pledged support for GST in its election manifesto and will stand by it.
SME Fund
Additionally the state has also created a venture capital fund with a corpus of Rs. 200 crore for small and medium enterprises.
Disbursement in form of loan from this fund is expected to be rolled out from December this year, he said.
