Now, selfie apartments would offer youth in the country the chance to own their first apartment. The Kochi-based builder Asset Homes has announced the launch of 100 sq ft selfie (self contained) apartments to fulfil the aspirations of the youth to occupy a house along with his/ her first job.

Priced below ₹10 lakh, the selfie apartments would be developed in in Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Visakhapatnam given the growing number of students and job aspirants in these cities.

Claiming that the project would be the first of its kind in India, V. Sunil Kumar, Managing Director, Asset Homes, said the land for these projects has been identified. The Kochi project would be located in suburban Kakkanadu, given its close proximity to Infopark and the upcoming Smart City.

Speaking to presspersons after unveiling the company's new logo, Kumar said each unit in the selfie project would be fully air-conditioned with a kitchen, bedroom and toilet. Work on the project would commence in April and is expected to be completed within two-and-a-half years.

Besides, the company has also lined up world-class models of Assisted Living for senior citizens in three locations in Kerala; 10 new affordable projects in South Indian cities; and 20 housing projects in 14 prominent locations across Kerala this year.

The affordable housing projects would be set up in Coimbatore, Erode, Tirunelveli, Hosur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Hubli, Belgaum, Mangaluru and Trichy.

Asked why Kerala has been left out from the project, he said high land prices make affordable housing unviable in the state. The prices for these apartments has been fixed at ₹25 lakh, which is not possible in Kerala due to surging land costs.

These new projects would cater to the requirements of the different segments of customers, both existing and emerging in the market, he added.
