Jnanpith award winner and noted Telugu film lyricist C Narayana Reddy, 85, passed away here on Monday.
Popularly known as CiNaRe, Narayana Reddy started his career as a lyricist with NT Rama Rao’s Gulebakhavali Katha.
He received the Jnanpith award in 1988 for his work ‘Vishwambhara’. A doctorate in Telugu from the Osmania University, he published several literary works, including anthologies of poems.
He also served as a Rajya Sabha MP and won several prestigious awards including Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
