Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) is relooking at its pricing strategy. Considering the competition from multinational companies, it is being felt that the base price of the power sector equipment and services should be lowered by 10 per cent to 15 per cent if BHEL was to keep its order book moving, according to sources. BHEL, ranked among the international top 12 in the power sector, has also taken up a review of the erection time for equipment, especially those used for setting up 250 MW thermal power units. A shorter timeframe, its exercise has revealed, will enhance its competitiveness, according to the sources.

Jindals sign MoU for 1000 MW project in M. P.

The Jindals have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh Government for setting up a 1,000 MW thermal power station at Raigarh. A press release said the power station will use coal from the Mand mines, which have proven reserves for at least 60 years. The release said the Jindals will develop and operate mines and establish, operate and maintain the power station. The company is now carrying out a detailed techno-economic study and project report, the release said.

Coke trickles into Hyderabad
