Even as the shopping giants are gearing up for their Freedom sales to mark Independence Day, industry association CII has launched an interesting social media campaign on the occasion. #MissionIndiaat75 looks at what India will be in year 2022. The month-long campaign over Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram will focus on India’s key development indicators during the last 71 years and what people’s dreams are for a new India at 75. CII is requesting all to join in this campaign and share their thoughts on their dreams for India. Best selected messages will be awarded prizes. The campaign is running on CII’s social media handles.

Pizzas and puppets

Pizza Hut is following a new recipe in its marketing pitch. The QSR brand uses a gang of puppets in its new ad campaign featuring actor Abhay Deol. The campaign also marks the comeback of a celebrity endorsed TV campaign by the brand after a hiatus of eight years. The campaign will see a series of at least four to five films to be aired on TV and social media breaks with a set of two ads, one on its newly launched pan pizzas range, the other on its WOW Everyday Value deal in which consumers can avail a 50 per cent discount on any takeaway orders of medium pan pizzas.

Captain Cool’s new run

MS Dhoni has taken a 25 per cent stake in Run Adam, a 360 degree sports tech ecosystem, in his personal capacity and will also play mentor and brand ambassador to the start-up.

Run Adam is a technology platform that aims to connect athletes with resources, including sponsors, experts, coaches, academies and specialists, among others. It will serve as a marketplace for sporting talent, hand-holding them through every stage of their career. Registration on Run Adam is free for the sporting community and is available for download on Google Play store and Apple store. Says K. Yeragaselvan, CEO, and MD of Run Adam, “Most sportspersons are self-funded and often don’t come from affluent backgrounds, and many cannot reach their goal mainly due to lack of access to resources. Run Adam aims to bridge this gap in sports.”

Voice commerce boom

Voice search is one of the most exciting areas currently, with great implications for commerce. A new report on voice assistant technology trends by GlobalWebIndex says that 27 per cent of the global online population is using voice search today. It is most popular in Asia with Indonesia, India and China posting strongest figures in terms of who has used mobile voice search or voice command on their phones recently. Age group 16-24 tends to use voice commands or search more.

17 per cent of Internet users today own a voice-controlled smart assistant, says the report, adding that voice tech can seriously impact the e-commerce industry as it can alter consumer behaviour in purchasing activity. Three in one mobile voice searchers purchased a product through their phone in the last one month, says the report, pointing out that Amazon has taken an early lead in voice tech.
