Chennai-based brands losing consumer trust: Study

The number of Chennai-based brands that made it to the top 1,000 list in Brand Trust Report - 201 has almost halved compared to last year, indicating declining trust in the city-based brands. A press release from TRA Research says auto major TVS, ranked 60, has fallen 26 ranks over 2017. Tyre major MRF, at 130, gains nine. Other category leaders include Aachi, Kalimark, Lion Dates, Prestige, and Saravana Stores.

N. Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research, says nearly 30 Chennai-based brands were listed last year. “The trust is not the same it used to be, as the turf is becoming extremely competitive. Many Chennai brands still have a conservative approach. If they don’t invest in brand strategy, take more modern approaches to marketing, they cannot impact consumer trust,” he adds.
