Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said it has won an order in a consortium with ABB of Sweden from state-run transmission major Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd for a power transmission link. The order value for BHEL is Rs 1,590 crore, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. The ‘Ultra High Voltage Multi-terminal Direct Current' transmission link order comprises three converter terminals and a power transmission system with a built in capacity of up to 8,000 MW, which is the largest HVDC (high voltage direct current) transmission system ever built, BHEL said in the statement. For BHEL, this is the largest order in transmission and distribution sector.
