Those heading to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, or any of the four other major cities of the country for work or a short trip, may now have their transport worries solved.
Carzonrent’s new service allows travellers to pick up a self-driven car from the airport on arrival and return it to the same point at departure. Chargeable on a per day basis, a Maruti Swift would cost Rs 800 a day, while a Volkswagen Vento sedan would be for Rs 1,200.
“We have a fleet of 400 self-drive cars at airport locations now for customers to pick and drop later. This is cheaper by about 50 per cent than chauffeur-driven cars kept for the whole day,” said Carzonrent’s CEO & MD, Rajiv Vij.

Carzonrent, which also runs the radio cab service ‘Easycab’, is investing Rs 150 crore this year in adding 2,500 new cars to its portfolio of 6,500. The company had raised $20 million (Rs 110 crore) from a consortium of private equity funds, such as Westbridge Capital, SIDBI Ventures and BTS Group.
On Wednesday, it also launched inter-city cab services based on a ‘pay-per-use’ concept – customers pay for only the kilometres used. Previously, charges happened on a ‘garage to garage’ basis. The company services 17 top cities in the country.
International Services
Carzonrent has also tied up with 600 global rental car operators in 125 countries to offer its domestic customers a global service coverage. “The plan is to take the brand overseas in 2-3 years,” Vij said.
