The State-promoted Gujarat Minerals Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC), has won the National Safety Award for 2009.
The PSU of the Gujarat Government has been selected for the honour by the Director-General of Mines Safety (DGMS) for its safety record at the Matano Madh lignite mine in 2009 under the category ‘Lowest Injury Frequency Rate, Output – Cat (3).
This award has recognised the BSE-listed company's commitment to carry out safe mining, said Mr V.S. Gadhvi, Managing Director, in a statement here today.
