The commercial operation of the new 500-MW unit (seventh unit) of Korba plant of NTPC Ltd has started, according to a release issued by the plant. This followed achievement of the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD) last Monday, the release said. The unit had achieved full load on December 26, 20101, that is, within record one-month from the date of synchronisation. With the beginning of commercial operation of the seventh unit, the total capacity of the Korba plant, comprising three units of 200 MW each and four units of 500 MW each, goes up to 2,600 MW, the release added.
