Buoyed by strong topline growth, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) said on Wednesday that its net profit increased 13 per cent to Rs 661.96 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 587.36 crore for the June quarter of the previous fiscal, it said in a regulatory filing.
Total income increased 23 per cent to Rs 2,372.88 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2011, from Rs 1,928.77 crore a year ago.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 193.20, up nearly 3 per cent, on the BSE today. Over 4.60 lakh shares of the company changed hands on the bourse today.
