Toyota Kirloskar has said it is carrying out a service campaign for one month for its Etios and Liva hatchback cars and will examine them for any fuel leakages.
An official with the company said though they do not expect any such issues with the cars, they are taking “abundant precaution” while these cars come for servicing.
This exercise will involve about 41,000 units of the Etios and the Liva.Toyota engineers will carry out tests to find out whether the inlet pipe to the fuel tank is faulty, which could lead to leakage.
The Etios sedan was launched a year ago while the Liva hatchback was launched this year. In November, Toyota Kirloskar sold 3,943 units of the Etios and 4,328 units of the Liva. Its total sales of all its models rose more than two fold to 13,956 units compared with year-ago sales.
Toyota plans to expand capacity from 1.5 lakh units to 3.1 lakh units in two phases with a total outlay of about Rs 1,200 crore.
