Volkswagen Group sales, consisting of the Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen car brands, have touched 55,091 units for the first six months of 2011. In the same January to June period last year, it had sold 17,367 cars. “The progress in sales figures show the building confidence of our customers in our products across the three brands Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen.” said Dr John Chacko, President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India. The most premium brand of the three – Audi – launched four new models in the period, the A8, R8 Spyder, A7 and the RS 5 and delivered 2,802 cars. Skoda delivered 14,611 cars, marking a growth of 50 per cent over last year. The Volkswagen brand, which launched the Vento IPL edition and the new Passat with BlueMotion Technologies, delivered 37,678 cars in the same time.
