Woodbriar Group has bagged six awards at the recently concluded The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA: STC) for 2013.
M/s United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company Limited has won five awards. M/s Harrisons Malayalam Limited, M/s Joonktollee Tea & Industries Limited and M/s Vigneshwar Estate Tea Factory won three awards each while M/s Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Private Limited, M/s Kilkotagiri Tea & Coffee Estates Company Limited and M/s Bhavani Tea & Produce Company Limited won one award each.
According to C Shreedharan, Convener, TGLIA: STC, the final tasting session of the Ninth Edition of TGLIA: STC was held at UPASI, Coonoor on March 22, 2013.
The 61 short-listed teas that qualified the first-level of screening were evaluated by a panel of jury comprising of Messrs Bharat Arya, J.V Gokal & Co P. Ltd, Kolkata; Milind Shah, Girnar Food & Beverages Pvt Ltd, Mumbai; Susheel Marcus, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Kolkata; W.C.Thomas, Forbes, Ewart & Figgis (P) Ltd, Kochi; and Viren Shah, Jivraj Tea Ltd, Surat.
