Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland will set up a driver training institute in Chindwara, Madhya Pradesh, the company said.
This will be the third facility for Ashok Leyland, with the vehicle manufacturer already having two driver training institutes, one in Tamil Nadu and other near New Delhi, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
The foundation stone of the institute was laid recently by the Union Urban Development Minister, Mr Kamal Nath.
The new facility spread across 15 acre would have all the facilities for heavy commercial vehicle driver training.
This would include tracks such as eight-curve, s-curve, six-lane roads, village roads and a modern simulator, it said.
“Ashok Leyland has been one of the few auto companies that has instituted a comprehensive driver engagement programme to strengthen its relationship with the driver community... ”, Ashok Leyland Executive Vice-Chairman, Mr R. Seshasayee, said.
The company already runs two driver training institutes at Namakkal in Tamil Nadu and the other at Burari near Delhi that trains about 40,000 drivers every year with more being planned at Haryana and Rajasthan, he added.
Ashok Leyland would provide the skilled manpower, develop and conduct appropriate courses, the statement added.
