Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 1,445 crore for a 600 MW thermal power project in Andhra Pradesh.
The contract has been awarded by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGenco).
“Valued at Rs 1,445 crore, the contract envisages setting up a 1x600 MW thermal power generating unit for APGenco’s upcoming coal-based thermal power project, located at Rayalaseema in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh,” BHEL said in a statement.
The Rayalaseema thermal power project is already equipped with five BHEL-built units of 210 MW each.
The latest contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, among others.
“In Andhra Pradesh, BHEL is also currently executing orders for three more thermal units, which will generate 1,700 MW of power, on commissioning,” the statement said.
BHEL, a leading power equipment maker, has established the capability to deliver 15,000 MW a year and further augmentation to 20,000 MW a year is under way.
