Ford India on Thursday launched the latest version of its compact sedan Aspire priced between ₹5.55 lakh and ₹8.14 lakh (introductory prices across India) and the company hopes to get a better share from the 4.50-lakh sedan market this year.

The company is a fringe player in the segment, which has a market size of around 30,000 units a month. The segment is dominated by Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire with around 18,000 units per month. Other competitors include Honda’s Amaze and Tata’s Tigor.

“The new Ford Aspire is a complete package, tailor-made for those who don’t follow the crowd and want more out of their car experience,” Anurag Mehrotra, President and Managing Director, Ford India, said here at the launch.

“The compact sedan segment is expected to be 4.50 lakh units this year and is expected to almost double to 8.50 lakh by the end of this decade,” he said without sharing any target figure.

Available in petrol 1.2 litre and diesel 1.5 litre engine options, the car comes with dual airbags and ABS as a standard.

While the petrol variant is available between ₹5.55 lakh and ₹7.24 lakh, the diesel version is available at ₹6.45 lakh to ₹8.14 lakh (all introductory prices across India).

The car is also available in automatic transmission (only in petrol 1.5 litre engine) mode for ₹8.49 lakh. The petrol variant would give 20.4 kmpl, while the diesel engine would give 26.1 kmpl.
