The Institute of Company Secretaries Of India (ICSI) will set up virtual office space that start-ups and others can use as conference facility and cabins for meetings.

Addressing mediapersons, Mamta Binani, President – ICSI, said as many young people are turning entrepreneurs, one of the biggest challenges is funding. “Most of the start-ups work at home as they may not have enough funding to afford a full time office space. The conference facility will help when meeting with clients,” she added. The organisation will be converting available office space into boardrooms and cabins in Chennai, Bengaluru and Noida in three months. The facility can be used by company secretaries initially and will be extended to other professionals. Booking for the space can be facilitated online with a separate payment structure for company secretaries and other professionals.

Binani said, “Based on the success of the system, we have plans to introduce it in tier II and III cities.”

The institute will digitise all member and students data by the year-end. “The project will integrate all the information about our members and will help keep track of them,” Binani said.

To connect with fresh talent and to reach out to a wider audience, ICSI has taken initiatives like Olympiad for school students, Signature Award for toppers in commerce stream from universities and study centres, where the CS enrolled students can access course materials through ICSI chapter in that area. Binani said, “This will help us reach wider audience and identify bright students.”
