Larsen &Toubro has bagged a Rs 1,450-crore offshore process platform contract from the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC).
GSPC has awarded the offshore process-cum-living quarters platform order to L&T to meet its hydrocarbon production target by July 2013 from the KG Basin, the company said.
This order is the second for L&T from GSPC. Last year, it got the corporation's first offshore wellhead platform order for developing the Deen Dayal West Field in the KG Basin.
L&T said it had demonstrated its capabilities by delivering superstructure of the offshore platform from its new manufacturing facilities at Kattupalli, near Ennore, in Chennai, within a year of commencing operations.
Upon final commissioning, the GSPC facilities are expected to add about six million standard cubic metres of hydrocarbon gas a day to the country's energy production.
