LG Electronics India launched its Cinema 3D Smart TV range on Wednesday in a bid to capture a market share in the growing 3D television segment. The company said about 1 lakh 3D TV sets were sold in India last year, which is expected to grow to 5 lakh 3D sets by the year-end.
Mr Soon Kwon, Managing Director, LG Electronics India said, “3D entertainment is set to explode in India at a steady growth of 500 per cent. We are targeting business worth Rs 1,000 crore from 3D TV sales.”
He added that with the Olympics 2012 to be broadcast in 3D and more than 30 English and Hindi 3D movies to hit Indian cinema halls, 3D content is also growing. The Cinema 3D Smart TV range is available in sizes ranging from 32 inches to 72 inches in the price range of Rs 55,000-Rs 7 lakh.
