With consumers looking for healthier options in their daily intake, edible oil brand Dhara, which had fortified its groundnut oil with vitamins A and D, has added on a unique technology to its Dhara Health sunflower oil brand, which ensures up to 21.8 per cent low oil absorption.

While Dhara fortified its groundnut oil with vitamins A and D some months ago, its refined vegetable oil too had joined the club with low absorb technology that ensures low absorption of oil while frying.

The new variant purportedly stays good over repeated frying sessions and retards the deterioration of the vitamin A present in the oil, the company has said.

Speaking about the new variant, Mr Dinesh Agrawal COO Dhara said, “Consumers today have become very health conscious and are constantly evaluating products to pick the healthiest option. We have witnessed that consumers are well informed on the type of cooking oil they consume and the benefits that their oil offers.”

He added that consumers expect value-added benefits over and above the intrinsic benefits that the product has to offer.

Noting that ‘low absorb technology’ was the outcome of the firm’s R&D efforts, he added the company had collaborated with Fare Labs, an independent,  accredited and authorised food testing laboratory, to conduct a comprehensive study before introducing the product in the market.

According to the findings of the internal study, the new oil absorbs 19.8 to 21.8 per cent less oil (tests were conducted by frying besan bhujiya and lady’s finger) as compared to regular sunflower oil.
