Passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Thursday said it has sold 1,06,083 units in September, up seven per cent as compared with 99,290 units in the same month last year.

The sales were driven mostly by its compact segment (Swift, Ritz, Celerio) with 44,826 units during the month, which grew by 3.5 per cent as against 43,304 units in September 2014.

The Mini segment (Alto, WagonR) grew marginally last month to 35,570 units as compared with 35,547 units in September last year, data released by the company said.

In the sedan segment, MSIL sold 4,291 units of Ciaz (launched in October last year) during the month, and in the utility segment (Gypsy, Ertiga and S-Cross), the company sold 6,331 units in September as compared to 5,980 units in September 2014.
