Daily grocery delivery start-up Milkbasket has introduced its services in Bengaluru, its second market after NCR. The start-up will be hiring 2,500 people in the next 24 months to support its operations and growth in Bengaluru.

Founded in early 2015, Milkbasket has built a new age tech platform to enable frequent and frictionless buying that it hopes will attract customers in the city with offerings such as, one tap ordering, no minimum order more importantly, can be added to the basket till midnight and guaranteed silent delivery by 7 am every day, where a customer’s order arrives at his doorstep every morning much like a newspaper.

“After becoming synonymous to grocery delivery in NCR, we are happy to launch our second base in Bengaluru. Within the next two years we hope to have the largest operations in the city. We will be creating employment for over 2,500 people in the process” said Anant Goel, co-founder and CEO of Milkbasket.

The hiring will be made for both on-ground operations and the corporate office. Milkbasket currently has 1,500 employees in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. It is backed by Mayfield Advisors, Beenext, Kalaari Capital, Unilever Ventures, Lenovo and Blume Ventures and has raised close to $16 million to date.

Founded by Goel, Ashish Goel, Anurag Jain and Yatish Talvadia, Milkbasket’s vision is to become the default mom and pop shop for over a million households by 2021. Having achieved positive unit economics within the first six months of launch, Milkbasket claims to be the most efficient model in the online grocery space as compared to its domestic peers.
